The Business Storytelling PLAYshop is the ultimate sales or marketing training! Through it's immersive games and content, teams will learn the power of storytelling & how to add it into their everyday communication. Participants will learn the skills and strategies to exert authentic influence, motivation and engagement with all key stakeholders.

How It Works:

PLAYshops are fun, experiential & highly impactful! This team building workshop  can take place right in your office or at any locally scheduled event, conference, retreat, etc. All materials provided and teams of 8-200+ can be accommodated. There are 3 components to teaching your team the power of storytelling:

1. Group Games

Fun and interactive (improv-influenced) games that are designed to get teams to break down barriers and learn about themselves and the group at large.

2. Positive Psychology

The research behind what makes life worth living and aims to discover and promote the factors that allow individuals and groups to thrive.

3. ‘Art-ivities’

Wacky and fun art based activities to bring it all together.  Dont worry….no artistic abilities necessary!

Objective: Learn the science behind telling better stories to connect and engage more effectively with teammates & customers.


  • How We’ll Learn (mindfulness, facilitation, engagement) , The FUNdamentals of Play (Rules)
  • Ice breakers (Shakedown, Mini-men, Extremes, Status Walk)

STEP 1:  Keep a Positive Mindset 

  • Content - Top 10 Positive Emotions, Negativity Bias & Critical Positivity Ratio (3:1/5:1), Benefits of Positivity (Broader Perspective/Facing Challenges, contagion)
  • Discussion/Tools (Group Share) – How can you experience more positive emotions & their benefits? How can you apply the 3:1 ratio at work/home? With potential/current clients?
  • Sample Games - 7 Things, Trifecta, Story Builders, Groupie RPS, Partnesia

STEP 2:  Thinking About the Audience

  • Content – Identifying the capacities, concerns and interests of your audience, & how those are different from the speaker’s capacities, concerns and interests
  • Discussion/Tools (Group Share) – If I were them…(If you were your audience, what would be your capacities, concerns, and interests?)
  • Sample Games –Askhole, Interpretationz, Broken Mirror, 3 Noses, Nah/Swedish Storytelling, Curiosity, My Story

STEP 3: Getting Audience to Listen 

  • Content – Framing. Tell people why and how they should listen to what you’re about to say. Get them to listen the way you’d like. Uncertainty makes it difficult/impossible to focus
  • Discussion/Tools (Group Share)– Choose a story and practice your framing (telling people how and why they should listen). Hone in on the core story.
  • Sample Games - Snapshotz, Headlines, Story Symphony, The Translator, Story Reduction

STEP 4:  Helping Audience Understand

  • Content – Speaker brain vs audience brain. How to make it “real” for the audience using sense experience and relevant examples
  • Discussion/Tools (Group Share)– Unleash the details of your story! [Describe your sense experience or give people relevant examples]
  • Sample Games - 3 Corner Story, Rumors, Worlds Greatest Ad Agency, Dubbed Movie


  • Artivity*: Storytimez - A 30 min Artivity to round out the PLAYshop!Each person will create their own ‘story’ using art & the tools we learned in the PLAYshop. Some people will share their engaging stories with the group.
